CMA Christmas Closure

CMA Childrens Christmas Party 
 
 
On the 18th December 60 children attended our Eastbourne Christmas Party, unfortunately due to poor weather conditions 30+ students from Rye area were unable to attend, we will make up for this by hosting a Karate Party to these student's early in the new year.
The children enjoyed the party with 3 Bouncy Castles, lots of food and drink and a very special visit from santa!!!
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
CMA Blackbelt success
 
On the 11th December, Sensei Amy Hescott 2nd Dan, graded for her 1st Degree Blackbelt in Kickboxing, the test lasted over an hour and included Combinations, sparring, pad training and fitness, Amy is CMA's first female Blackbelt, well done Amy!! also a big well done to Mark Edwards and Ivon Baxter who successfully passed their 2nd Degree Kickboxing gradings conducted on the 12th December. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 CMA Interclub Tournament
 
On the 28th November students from Eastbourne, Hastings and Rye area travelled to Eastbourne for a competition, due to snow some of our students were unable to attend, the categories were Kata, Kumite, and Weapons.
Sensei Sean Kinsella 4th Dan, was very pleased with the over all standard of the competitors at the event, and looks forward to hosting the next one in march 2011, special thanks goes to Sempai's Ashlee, Zoe, Crispin, William, Dave, Alicia, and Sensei Amy for their Refereeing and Judging, and Time Keeping and Scoring, aswell as a big thanks to CMA Secretary Helen Fielder and Tom for running our refreshments stool.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
CMA Pressure Point Seminar success! 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
On the 21st of November CMA students attended a Pressure Point and Power Generation Seminar, the student's were taught to locate the 360+ Pressure Points on the body, the seminar focused on the effects of striking up to 3 points at any one time, also students were taught many techniques including "Wave Form" punching, the students really enjoyed the seminar and we look forward to the next seminar in 2011.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
     CMA Students perform well at Nunchaku Weapons Course
 
 
 
On the 14th November CMA students enjoyed a Nunchaku Course taught by Sensei Sean Kinsella 4th Dan, and Sempai David Martin 1st Dan, the course included stikes, and Kata training, the students all worked hard and performed very well, and some of our students are looking forward to performing their Nunchaku Kata's at the Eastbourne Inter-Club Tournament on the 28th November.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
CMA RYE AREA EXPANDS 
 
 
 
 
 
CMA have taught in Rye area for over 10 years, we are proud to announce we will be adding a Childrens Kickboxing class, and an extra Childrens Karate beginners class (up to 7th Kyu) Childrens Kickboxing class will be open to children aged 7yrs-12 yrs, the classes will consist of Kickboxing Combinations, Pad Training, Fitness, and ultimately sparring, the training will be done to energising music, and there will be a chance for students ultimately to compete in the Boxing Ring, in Light Continuous Kickboxing tournaments, the first lesson is free of charge and just £5 per session thereafter.
The Childrens Karate class will be a pay as you go class and will be open to all children aged 4 years-11years up to 7th Kyu (orange belt)

CMA KICKBOXING RESULTS 
 
 
 
On Sunday 7th November 5 CMA Kickboxers and coaches Ivon and Kris Baxter set off to Suffolk for a Light Continuous Tournament hosted by Pete Dunnet, the show was professionally run and all our fighters really enjoyed the day. 
 
 
 

                 

   

                 

  

 

Daniel Baxter CMA vs Carl Oakly FCA (Freestyle Combat Academy)      (Draw)

 

 

 

Daniel had a good positive start to the fight, with both fighters going in strong from the offset. Daniel used good roundhouse kicks and strong hands to gain the upper hand, both fighters were persistent and not willing to give up, Carl tried to gain more momentum but Daniel's movement around the ring, and timing, was winning him the fight, with an accidental elbow Daniel was deducted a point resulting in this bout being declared a draw.

 

 

 

 

 

 

George French CMA vs Jay Web (mckz) Gym              (Win)

 

 

George started well with good kicks followed by quick hand combinations, Jay fought back with strong hands to the head and body, the whole fight was very even through the rounds, and both fighters displayed nice technique and control, George performed a nice sweep in the last round which gave him an edge and he took the win.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bradley Clark CMA vs Tim Godsen FCA Gym                         (Win)

 

 

 

 

Tim started off strong and looked to be in control early, but Bradley soon found his rythm and attacked continuously with nice push kicks and effective straights, Bradley controled the centre of the ring well, in the third round the pace slowed a little, with Tim pushing back, Bradley pulled off a nice sweep and took the win.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jack Madden CMA vs Oliver Moffet (CKA)                   (Loss)

 

 

 

Jack started well with nice covering and counter punching, but  Oliver was persistent in attack, in the second round, Jack had more luck with his push kicks and tried to put together some combinations, the fight went to a well deserved Oliver who had a nice work rate and very effective round house kicks, Jack looks forward to getting back in the ring again soon.

Jack used his experience, with nice fakes leading to effective hand combinations to the head and body, Jack was controling the fight from early on. Sean found some succes in counter striking and landed some impressive head kicks, in the third round Sean's confidence increased and he landed some very impressive head kicks, but Jack took a well deserved win, Sean was happy for the experience, as Jack had just returned from a high level tournament in scotland winning gold, Sean is eager to get back in the ring again soon.

                                     
 
 

 
 
 
 

 
CMA Halloween Escrima stick course
 
 
On the 31st October some of our CMA students took part in a Escrima stick Course, the students performed really well learning, strikes, combinations and defences, ofcourse due to the course being taught on Halloween are student had to all be dressed ghoulishly.

New Junior 2nd Dan for CMA Battle Dojo 
 
 
Congratulations to Nathan Jay from Battle Dojo, Nathan began training in Wado Ryu Karate in 2000, in 2005 he passes his Junior 1st Dan (Shodan), and now aged 15 years old he has passed his Junior 2nd Dan (Nidan) his test was conducted on the 24th October 2010, in front of Sensei Sean Kinsella 4th Dan, and Barry Lovett 4th Dan, the test lasted well over an Hour, Nathan demonstrated Senior Wado Kata's, Senior Wado Pairs, Knife Defences, Weapons Kata, Sparring, Pad Training, and fitness.
Nathan Is now working hard to his Senior Assessments of Senior 1st Dan at 16 and Senior 2nd Dan at 18 years of age, well Done Nathan! 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Battle of Kent Light Continuous Kickboxing Tournament 
 
 
On the 17th October Coaches Ivon Baxter and Kris Baxter (st Mary's Bay) CMA gym, and Sean Kinsella and Amy Hescott (Eastbourne) CMA Gym set out to the Lordswood Leisure Centre in Chatham, the well run event was hosted by Colin Payne (TKO) and sactioned by the (Blcc) fighters Jonah Hall, Sean Baxter and Ross Hunt were excited to take to the ring, the results were as follows.

9 year old Jonah was the first fight of the day, the fight started with the two dispaying some nice body kicks, and small punching combinations, Jonah's guard was a little loose he scored to the body well but left his head open, this was rectified in the second round when Jonah started displaying some nice head Kicks and combinations to the head, both fighter performed very well and the bout was declared a  draw.
Jonah was excited for the ring experience and is looking forward to competing again soon.
 
 
 
 
Sean Baxter (CMA) vs Aniel Dhaliwal( DFC Warriors Gym)     (Win)
 
 
 
This was a very good fight for Sean demonstating nice footwork, and Head Kicks, Sean was using the ring to his advantage using some nice counter striking, Aniel was the taller fighter and had a high work load he did find succes in areas but the eventual winner was 16 year old Sean Baxter all in all this was a very enjoyable fight to watch.

Sean got the opportunity of a second bout and was eager to get back in the ring, this fight was a bit slower paced, Gupral was attacking well with nice combinations, Sean seemed to be a bit more tidy but was being forced to use his footwork to his advantage, another enjoyable fight and Sean was thrilled to take his second win of the day.
 
 
 
Ross Hunt (CMA) vs Matthew Blenkinsop (Walton Kickboxing Gym)     (Draw)
 
 
Ross was eager to fight, his bout was at the end of the day, although the bout was heavy in parts both fighter displayed some very nice Kickboxing Combinations, and the bout was declared a Draw and Ross was thrilled with the experience and looks forward to his next fight.

             ICO light Continuous Kickxoxing Event
 
 
 
On the 3rd October CMA coaches Mark Edwards (CMA Willingdon) and Ivon and Kris Baxter CMA st Marys Bay Gym headed to Suffolk for a Kickboxing event hosted by Pete Dunnet (CKA) and sanctioned by the (ICO) the event was very well run and the coaches were very proud of their fighters performances.

New CMA Hastings Childrens Karate Class 
 
 
 
CMA are starting a new Childrens Karate class in Hastings, classes will be taught at the West Hill Community Centre, Croft Road, Hastings, East Sussex, TN34 3JT classes will be taught on tuesdays at 5pm and will commence from the 5th October, classes are taught by Sensei David Welch 1st Dan who has been training in Karate for over 10 years. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
CMA New After School Class 
 
 
Sensei David Welch 1st Dan is set to start a new After School Class at Catsfield Primary School, Lessons will run after school on fridays at 3:30pm, and the first class is free of charge, classes will start Friday 8th October.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
CMA Karate Camp 2010 is a Huge Success! 
 
 
 
 
27 CMA student's travelled to Blackland Farm in the Ashdown Forest from Monday 9th August- Friday 13th August for some Intense Karate, Sport Karate, and Kickboxing Training, while also attending many activities including Abseiling, Zip Wire, Swimming, Pot Holing, Archery, and Low Ropes.
We would like to thank the following Leaders/Assistant Leaders for all their help, without them Camp would not be possible, thanks to Admin Ann, Stuart Harris, Anya Harris,Chris Larkin,Anne Larkin, Sensei Sean Kinsella, Sensei Amy Hescott, Alicia Burdett, Ann Mc Hale, Harry Sperring, Ashlee Reed, and a big thanks to Chris Kinsella for designing our professional Karate Camp Certificates, and Zoe and Ale Magni for hosting our evening Quiz entertainment.
Also a big thanks to Zoe and Ale Magni, for giving a very impressive warm up act for our Karate Display on the final day.
On the Thursday a Grading was conducted in both Traditional Wado Ryu Karate and Sport Karate and congratulations goes to the following students for demonstrating outstanding skills.

                            CMA Langney, Eastbourne Kickboxing Classses 
 
 
CMA are opening Kickboxing classes in Langney Eastbourne, at the Christ the King Church, 3 Princes Road, BN23 6HT (opposite Langney Roundabout) starting Monday 16th August classes will be 7:45pm-8:45pm and will be taught every monday, the First class is free to all new members, classes will be taught by Mark Edwards a Kickboxing Blackbelt coach with many Semi and Full Contact fights to his name.  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
CMA Battle Karate classes 
 
 
 
 
We will be opening our Battle CMA Karate classes on the 12th July, classes will be taught at the Battle Memorial Hall, 81 High Street, Battle, East Sussex, TN33 0AQ and will run on Mondays with childrens classes (4 years-11 years) being taught at 5:15pm, and Youth/Adult classes (12 years+) running at 6:15pm, the first class is free to all new members.

On the 9th of May CMA Eastbourne hosted the annual Inter-Schools Championship which saw many of our students perform outstandingly in disciplines including Kata, Kumite, Weapons and we also showcased three very impressive Kickboxing fights.

New Kickboxing Blackbelt for CMA 
 
 On the 10th of April Nick Glassock was tested to Kickboxing Blackbelt and performed outstandingly, nick has been training in Kickboxing for over 4 years and recently had a good win in a semi contact fight, the test took over an hour with nick having to demonstrate Kickboxing combinations, sparring, Pad Training and fitness, well done nick.

On sunday 28th March CMA Kickboxers travelled to Bury ST Edmunds Leisure centrer in Suffolk to compete in their very well run Kickboxing tournament hosted by Peter Dunnet ISKA, a big well done to those who competed, Laziz Rahkmatov, Daniel Baxter, Matt owen, Jack Madden, Callum Elcombe, George French, Josh Owen, Nick Glassock, Sean Owen, with big mentions going to Nick Glassocks, Sean Baxter Josh Owen for some outstanding technical skills
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
2 New Blackbelts for Eastbourne Dojo
